The Problem
A listed water mill has a brick lower half but as the two upper floors were of an all wood construction, before this space could used, some form of emergency escape had to be provided.
The architects considered that the original projecting 'lucum', through which sacks had originally been hoisted up into the top of the mill, could be utilised as the emergency exit point.
The Solution
After discussions, Lymore Ltd suggested the Ingstrom Escape Chute.
The chute is very compact and could thus be stored in a small space within the projection of the 'lucum'.
The fireproof outer sheath of woven glass fibre can withstand very high temperatures from impacting flames or radiant heat for a considerable time.
